It was a case of hands across the sea for members of Ramsgate Rotary Club on Thursday when they held a joint meeting with members of their contact club of Boulogne- on board a cross channel ferry!
It started when the French members boarded a P and O ferry in Calais and were joined by their Ramsgate counterparts at Dover.
They enjoyed a sumptuous buffet and drinks together as well as catching up with old and new friends.
Boulogne president Nicolas Singer said how delighted he was the two clubs had been able to meet up and he hoped that as next year was the eightieth anniversary of the two clubs agreeing to be contact clubs there would be a special celebration.
The idea was welcomed by President Graham Larcombe and the President Elect Pat Hersant.
Mr Larcombe, who proposed the Rotary toast said he hoped many of them would meet again when Ramsgate held its Presidents Night on November 18.
Among those who attended was the club’s International Officer Lawrence Page.
